There was reference to those in the last game but not on screen, the bad soldiers raped a female prisoner and then forced the male prisoner who was a fourteen year old boy into having sex with her too... it was a big controversy

Very creepy. But the creepiest part is I think it is meant to serve as a parallel to real life events. That game in particular is set on a U.S military prison camp, and in real life like modern times of course there has been the big controversies over the torture techniques used by the US in the war on terrorism, including it was discovered sexually abusing, raping, and forcing prisoners to have sex with each other. The director did not just pull this stuff out of thin air.
